camel.gif (1226 bytes)... What struck me the most when listening to the Cameleon Princess is that it has the same characteristics as every other Floating loudspeaker...
The high frequencies are very smooth, detailed and extremely precisely placed.  Other loudspeakers often sound muddily and sharp at a higher sound, whereas the Cameleon Princess continues to sound as open and precise as it would on a lower sound level.
... The voice is very accurate and stable in space and has precise dimensions of depth and wideness...
The bass sounds - also on high level -  are well controlled.

Conclusions

  • Floating Cameleon III Princess has a well balanced sound-image.  Appraisal must surely be shown for the higher frequencies.
  • I couldn't find any shortcomings, besides the fact that more attention needs to be given to the placing of these loudspeakers compared to any other one in the same price-range.
  • The Floating Cameleon III Princess proves that it is indeed possible to create a great and powerful sound in a relative small cabinet.
  • For this Floating uses the most modern components and technologies without dropping stitches on other points.
  • The finish is very professional and the design is in my opinion extremely trendy and original.

Synthese II loudspeaker:  This can hardly be any better.

... Immediately it became clear that the "Synthese II" reproduce music to the very highest level....
The extreme transparent sound and the spatial image are fabulous.  I can hardly imagine a loudpeaker performing better.  The placing - for as far as the recording contains the information -  is holographic and precise....
The instruments are placed more precise, more stable and more accurate than I've experienced with any other loudspeaker.
The loudspeaker is dynamic without being superficial and without sounding weary (tired).  The high-fequencies are beautiful and clear with no sign of hardness or sharpness...

Conclusions

  • This is indeed a really very musical and well balanced loudspeaker.  And, for as far as the placing and the setting of the stereo image go, it's one without an equal.
  • In addition it has the advantage of being a rather easy loudspeaker.  Compared to many other loudspeakers it integrates better in a variety of rooms, this thanks to the "acoustic cards".
  • As always, a listening session is recommended for those interested.  However, since these Synthese II are such extraordinary good loudspeakers, it is hardly necessary.

... The hearing-tests prove that Schellekens has attached as much importance to the sound as to the design....

... The first sound-impression: 'very good overall'.
The little Floatings do not sound extremely spectacular, but are very well balanced, without any special preference.  Schellekens has managed to build a speaker with a broad application-range, instead of a sensitive only in specific areas.

The Cameleons easily adapt to all music-styles: with Jazz, the spattering of the tweeters is f.e. extremely convincing, with Classical music, it's the all-round-equilibrated, never nervous reproduction, with pop-music, it's the really strong placing of the base sounds;... with vocal music the movements of the singer's mouth are simply 'shown'.

... It especially struck me that the little loudspeaker-boxes were not as vulnerable as many other loudspeakers in the same category..

Conclusions

  • The Floatings Cameleon M are not angular, black boxes.   They are elegant loudspeakers with a curved front and colourfull covers.
  • With the Cameleon M Floating has succeeded in making a Synthesis of excellent allround sound and attractive design, for people, that appreciate good and easy HiFi.
